Welcome

This is the web site of the Clark County R/C Barnstormers. We are a growing club in Central Kentucky.

The purpose of this site is to provide a forum as a source of club news, event information, and a place where flyers can ask questions and get information from around the country about issues they may have with R/C flying.

We only ask that you always show respect for us and each other when you use our site.

Thank you for stopping by. We look forward to your next visit.

AMA Charter Number - 3503

The Connie built by Ed King, a member of the Clark county R/C Barnstormers, was modeled after the Lockheed Constellation (N6937C) located at the Kansas City, Mo. museum (http://www.ahmmuseum.com). It's one of three full scale Connies flying today, and the only one flying in the United States. With their permission construction began in October 2007. It has taken better than two years of building to get it where it is today.

The wingspan is just under 12 feet (140"), all up weight should be around 50 pounds. It is electric powered (12,000 mah Lithium polymer battery source) with four AXI 4130 motors developing 5000 watts of power. It has retractable landing gear with closing retract doors. The functioning lights on each side of the fuselage are to check for wing leading edge icing conditions. It has full working navigation lights, landing lights that retract along with two beacons. The flaps are working Fowler flaps which increase the wing area and lift when landing. A sound system will duplicate the full scale Connie engines. It was painted with automotive acrylic enamel followed with several automotive urethane clear coats. The radio system for this miniature is the JR 12X on 2.4 GHz. Fourteen servos and two matchboxes will be used to control flight. The maiden flight in the spring of 2010 should be exciting. "
