The maiden on the Patriot is in the books. On Sat. 03-20-10 the maiden flight went well with Bob by my side adjusting the trims. The Bird was nose heavy and pulling to the left. Bob gave it 4 or 5 clicks of aileron trim to correct the pull to the left, but it took all the up elevator I had on the radio to get the bird to fly. Being hesitant on the balance by the instructions by Great Planes, I removed some weight from the tail, fearing a tail heavy airplane. As it turned out of course the instructions were correct and I added weight at the field. but it was still tail heavy. Also changed the prop from a 11x6 prop to a 11X 7 to help it on take off. The initial take off was long off the mowed area we take care of but I stayed with it untill take off. After adding weight and changing the prop, the next several flights were better, but rebalanced and added more weight to the tail. I expect the next flight will be better with the balance corrected. Below is a picture of the bird and myself before the flight. Jeff
